Meet my new coffee companion, Gingy (he doesn't know that he is gonna be dunked into the coffee next, heheh)
It rained yesterday, it rained today, it is going to rain tomorrow n the day after tomorrow. In fact it is going to rain the whole week :(
Soooo..... remember your wellington boots and umbrella.
The rain didn't deter us from going for lunch. Not even when part of the freeway was flooded (wow, in my 8 years i have been here, i have not seen such a scene before). The driver carefully ploughed through the water (great driving skills!!) and eventually reached Subiaco.
This is the first time that both of us had Greek cuisine. Yummillicious I tell you. Go check out George's Meze ( http://www.georgesmeze.com.au/menu.htm). Definitely a good place to go when your taste buds feel adventurous.
This is what we had as an entree:

Meze Platter - Grilled Mediterranean sausages (ie.Chorizo), pan fried Haloumi cheese, Deep fried Calamari and Keftedes (beef balls with greek spices) served with tartare and tzaziki
For mains, i had:

Seafood Clay pot - Mixed seasonal seafood (mussels, tiger prawns) simmered in chilli, garlic & a rich tomato sauce served with garlic bread
The driver had a Moussaka as her mains. HEheeh, sorry, dun have a picture of it (the above pics are taken from the restaurant's website). Apparently it is the national dish of Greece. Hmmm.... how should i described it??? It looks somewhat like a lassagne (right miss driver??). But instead of layers of pasta sheets, it was layered with potatoes and eggplant.
In some ways greek food and italian food is quite similar, lot's of cheese, flavouful herbs and spices, creamy sauces. Wooo .... it better not be your dieting day. Flush that thought down the toilet!!!!
I was glad we got to try some pan fried halloumi (goat's cheese). Had been curious how it would taste like eversince i saw someone cooking it on tv. Salty, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside...... mmmmm.
By the time we got to the mains, it was cheeeese OVERLOAD. Me and miss driver just ducked straight into the meat and ignored the cheesy top crust of the moussaka. Just can't bear to stomach another spoon of cheese.
Wow, felt like a glutton at the end of the meal..... a satisfied glutton :)
