Sound familiar to you?? Ever been to a potbless or while eating out and discover that there would always be one last piece of a "something" left on the plate and nobody would touch it??
I always thought that is just a bad habit in the chinese culture. Probably can blame it on being "pai seh".
Then i discovered ...... this bad habit actually crosses cultural barrier, it is an epidemic!!! Muahahhaah.
I love the ppl at my workplace. Being all ladies, we sometimes bring in sweet stuff to share with everybody (naughty naughty!). However, it is mind boggling that we always end up with a piece of lone cookie, lone cake, lone chocolate sitting on the table for longer than it is needed to.

Let me just give you an example. Colleague F brought in a packet of Wagonwheels (chocolate coated cookies, see above pic), i think there are about 12 of them in one pack. Within 2 hours, 12 decreased to 5. And then next few days, the cookie dissappeared one by one till only one is left. Out of curiousity, I waited and counted the days that it takes for someone to come eat it up. After almost two weeks...... Peek a Boo..... the loner cookie is still there (see pic for evidence). HEeheh, in the end, i munched up that cookie and washed up the container.
I have a feeling in this case, it is not about being "pai seh" anymore, it is pure laziness. Ppl just don't want to finish the last piece coz they want to avoid washing up.
