Simple yet profound

To say that "prayer changes things" is not as close to the truth as saying, "Prayer changes me and then I change things." God has established things so that prayer, on the basis of redemption, changes the way a person looks at things. Prayer is not a matter of changing things externally, but one of working miracles in a person’s inner nature -- Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest.

So before wagging my fingers and asking god why he/she is still like that, why the situation hasn't turn around for the better, i have to remember that change has to start within ourselves.

What do you think??

There is some truth to that however this then makes it our responsibility to change things I do agree that prayer can give us a new perspective and wisdom, however we should learn to surrender our burdens to Him as well. I like how Max Lucado puts it [I paraphrase here, this is about prayer] "it is not so much about what one says but about the One who hears it.". Just my views on the matter. : )

~g~ : Definitely have to surrender to Him. The reason why this text stood out so much is because i love to complain, and small lil' things/ ppl can make me angry. All in all, most of the time things/ppl won't change according to what you want, we would need to change our perspective.
Have you read the recent two books by Max?? Everyday deserves a chance (cool cover - breakfast cereal) and Facing your giants. Saw your news about the upcoming books. My gosh, means that i have 3 books to catch up on.

I finished 'Facing your Giants' in the US, now halfway through 'Everyday Deserves a Chance'. Have you read 'Travelling Light'? My absolute favourite. Good to share and discuss our views, gets the brain and spirit thinking again. I used to struggle a lot within myself and try to behave, to conform to a certain standard and boy was I miserable. After a long time, I just gave up and let go. Now I'm much happier because of it.

~g~: I love all of his books. Guaranteed to be good till the last page :) I remembered the "Travelling Light" book had a really meaningful picture.
Good that you let go of conforming to standards. DOesn't work in all situations. "Trying to behave".....hehehehhe meaning that you are not as innocent as we think you are???
