Bling bling

Rings that never go out of fashion :)

A fellow blogger wrote about diamond rings. It reminded me of a conversation that i had a few weeks back with a friend of mind who gotten engaged recently. He kept on moaning about his hefty purchase (I had a shock when i heard what the price was, i was calculating in my brains, how many places i could have travelled). And of course not forgetting to blame us girls for being so "diamond - minded".

I just laughed and told him that "De Beers" should be the one to be blamed, the one responsible for propelling a piece of glittering carbon to fame. And excuse me, not all sheep are black, not all girls are advocates of the "it - better - be - one - carat - and - cost - a - bomb- or - else" idea, some of us really couldn't care less.

My friend said that he literally teared at the jewellery shop. The fiancee thought those were tears of joy. Not so in reality, he told me those are tears due to heartache of losing his hard earned money. Poor thing, you will be rewarded kay. It will be worth it. Ahhh.... such is the price one's gotta pay for love.

A few hundred?? A few thousands?? A few million?? How much are you willing to pay for a ring?? I think every guy has an answer in their own heart. After all, love cannot be measured by the size or clarity of a rock, or whether it is real or cultured. When you love someone, won't you want to buy the best that you can for your loved one??

Buying the ring is just small pea compared to the vow that you commit to each other."Till death do us part" ler, now that truly is a mega- astronomical task.

Phew!!! I am glad i am not the one buying the ring. Mauhahahahahahahah.

i watched a documentary on diamonds while i was on the plane back to perth from sg... it was interesting to know that a single diamond cut can take up to 12 hours!! imagine how many times you have to cut a diamond.. no wonder they're expensive.

And it was even more fascinating to know that it takes a diamond to cut another diamond! i never knew all these things! hahahaa....

Go to Linneys at Rokeby Road, Subiaco. When looking through their 2007 collection catalogue, my jaw dropped. Melissa George is absolutely gorgeous and I saw a ring for $18,000.00! (Yes, there are that many zeros at the end!). Guys ... if any girl tries to persuade you to buy diamonds from Subi, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!

marianne: Those are yummilicious onion rings :) Squid and onions are my favourite rings too!!

lil' fishy: Welcome to the world of blings!! Yup, they are tough stuff. In dentistry, diamonds are embedded on the burs, coz they are strong enough to cut enamel.

~g~: Wow, you've already started shopping for blings!!! Ahahah, your last two zeros are unecessary. And don't be surprised about the price, coz that was what sent my dear friend into tears. You better thank god that Tiffany's didn't open a branch here, colleague said that their rings cost about $80,000 !!!! Haahah, g, better start saving that hard earned money of yours.

yj:"who".... now that is a million dollar questions, let me consult the stars first kay. Hopefully someone that will appreciate the fact that i'm far more precious than the ring he is going to buy.

I noticed a slight obsession with rings on 2 blogs that I have read so far...hence I shall contribute my 2 cents worth :) I can never understand this fascination that girls have with jewellary...for those who know me well, i dun really like jewellary n i wear the bare minimum - pair of studs (earrings!!! not hunky stud k hehe) the crazy thing is even if my future hubby buys me an obscenely exp ring, i can't tell the diff??? haha..i will b duped! so anyone out there willing to give me a crash course in diamonds? not dat i can foresee the need in the near future..hahah..

We are re-designing Linneys' website and the comment by -g- contains a no longer valid link.

Please, if you can, change both links to point to www.linneys.com.au.
