A reminder to not look at our smallness

Love the voice, love the lyrics, press below to play the song

-- Britt Nicole, SET THE WORLD ON FIRE--

I wanna set the world on fire
Until it’s burning bright for You
It’s everything that I desire
Can I be the one You use?

I, I am small but
You, You are big enough

I, I am weak but
You, You are strong enough to
Take my dreams
Come and give them wings
Lord with You
There’s nothing I can not do
Nothing I cannot do

I wanna feed the hungry children
And reach across the farthest land
And tell the broken there is healing
And mercy in the Father’s hands

My hands my feet
My everything
My life, my love
Lord, use me

I wanna set the world on fire
I wanna set the world on fire, yeah
I’m gonna set the world on fire
Set the world on fire

More phone pics :)

Isn't this the most adorable doggie bowl??

Cooooolness

Where do you get a car as cool as this??

Lake L

Had such a good time, despite the long drive. Lake Le - sche - naul - tia (get it?? Broke it down for easier pronounciation) was about 45 minutes away from where i live.

The feeling of gliding through the water is so amazing!!!! Gotta do this again. Let's go kayaking :)

The not so amazing thing was the pesky flies. Rahhhhhhh!!!! Lost my appetite when i saw so many flies had paid the food a visit.

Baja Hitam !!!!

This spray claims to repel all mozzies, flies and etc. Bahhh...... humbug!!! Cheat money

Onions for the BArbeque. Wearing sunglasses to prevent themselves from tearing??

DOesn't the lake look pleasantly cool??

I wished i knew how to swim

Nice spot to have a cat nap

Lot's of arm exercise. Fly swatting with plates :)

The serene undisturbed lake, before we terrorised it, hehehe. The speed boat is to save any people who are in distress.

Let's go baby!!!

Getting ready to do more arm exercise. Paddlingggggg full steam ahead.

Shoes for sale

Calippo saves the day!!!!!! This brings back lotsa memories. This version existed since i was in secondary school, orange flavour though. Dad used to buy plenty of these for me (don't know whether he has recollection of it). Then it totally disappeared off the market. When i came over to Australia, i could only find the ice lolly version. Now they have brought back the gelato version!!!

Bush fire along Roe Hwy, uhh ohh......

The time has come !!!!

I didn't expect it to come so soon. My heart raced when i saw a letter that bore the Curtin uni emblem.

Another door is opened :) The interview has been scheduled for next wednesday. It is just the perfect day!!!! One of the dentist is flying over to Sydney for conference, so it wasn't hard for me to ask for a day off.

When i told my colleagues, they were really supportive about it. Thank god for them. One said she would write a recommendation letter for me, another one emailed her friend who studied dental hygiene to find out what questions they asked during the interview. And another colleague's mum who came in today for dental treatment said that she would keep me in prayers. My goodness, i am truly touched !!!

On the same day, there will be a manual dexterity test as well, where i have to carve out a model according the picture and measurements that they gave. I have no qualms about the interview part, but this test, i am not so sure about it. I've never been an artsy, handiwork kind of person. God, extra grace required here!!!!

Would you be so kind to squeeze this prayer request into your prayer time?? Thank you all !!!

This is the story of a girl

She was born into the world with wide eyed innocence. Everyone oohing and aahing the moment she breaks into a smile or gurggles some gibberish. As described by her mum, she was cheerful, easily contented, a darling child dearly showered with love and care.

Though her sweetness has brought her a lot of attention, this apple of mum and dad's eyes has always been shy. Usually the quiet reserved one, until she warms up to you, the true colors show.
She loves her books to death, it is a treasure cove to her. Read and re - read, crease marks left with every turn of a page. " No more birthday cakes for me, I'll have Enid Blyton instead please", she told her dad. Reading about pirates, fairies, knights, boarding schools, islands, forests, she already knew that there is a big world out there, she longs to see the world when she grows up.

Of course, unlike the world of Peter Pan that she read of, this little girl doesn't live in Never- never land. As she approached her teenage years, she felt more and more suffocated by the strict rules at home. Later on, when offered a key to partial freedom, she took it. Bags packed, whisked away to some la la land for studies. Life did get a little bit rougher when away from her circle of protection. Not to worry, her parents were always still there when rescue was needed.

La la land was still not good enough to provide everything that she needed, so off to "Vegemite Kingdom" she flew for more brain enrichment :) Through the years, she realises that kangaroos and koalas don't freely roam around the streets, parents can no longer always come to the rescue, people come, people go, confrontation can happen, responsibilities do increase and freedom can be fun too.

Crossing the finishing line of university life, she crosses yet another starting line, the "University of As Real As Life Can Get". Not even knowing what she wanted to do, she teetered tootered through days of uncertainty, self doubt. Her university life never prepared her for what she was about to experience. As an amateur to reality, she gathered painful bruises and cuts along the way, her heart had also hardened. Looking at photos of her younger self, she is saddened at how this baby had grown up to be a skeptical and bitter person. It was not meant to be like that, it wasn't what she dreamt of. She wanted to see the world, but not the ugly side of ppl, not the unfairness of things.

You'll be glad to know the girl has slowly progressed to the recovery stage, scars are forming on the wounds. She had come to understand that there is nothing she could have done to change the past and she can't keep dwelling at the bottom of the pit , because that is not God's purpose for her life. Dreams of travelling are still well alive and so is the heart of wanting to help others. "Next time when tears flow, it should not be "woe is me" tears, but instead tears that flow for the injustice and needs of others", she said.

Her words of encouragement to others: " Press on in life, don't accept the status quo!!

Chronicles of the vegemite kingdom

"Kevin or Johnny??" asked my colleague.

Of course she wasn't asking whether Kevin Costner or Johnny Depp is more dashingly handsome.

With the election looming around the corner, this is the hottest topic at the water cooler. Almost everybody has their two cents worth of opinion.

Neither Kevin nor Johnny, i told my colleague, coz i dun have no voting rights. In fact, i have never been around during election in Malaysia. Hence, never had a chance to exercise voting rights even in my own coutry. Proabably i have unknowingly been downgraded to illegal immigrant status by now. Haven't gone back to Malaysia for too long :p

Colleague suggested that i take up Australian citizenship. Now..... that idea is nothing new to me, i did think of it before, but somehow i dun have the peace to let go of what i have. What's there to lose?? Seriously speaking, nothing and no one is in my way. Hmmmm.... probably it is the sentiment of it being the place i was born, the place that i had my past memories.

I am getting more and more aussiefied than ever. I love vegemite, my name resembles a kangaroo, i had fun learning australian slangs, sort of caught on the footy madness, love the parks, love the river, love the beach, love the cafes, love the much more courteous (or should i say civilised) driving manners here, love australian humor (not the crudeness though). I'll even admit that i like Australia better than my own country. Yet, i don't feel that i can embrace Australia and call it my homeland. I am one confused girl sometimes.

To be or not to be?? Hehehe, i'll leave that question to be simmered for another few more years. I've got better fish to fry for now.

Seven Blunders of the World

Something interesting that i came across, more nerdy stuff from wikipedia ^_^

The Seven Blunders of the World is a list that Mahatma Gandhi gave to his grandson Arun Gandhi, written on a piece of paper, on their final day together, not too long before his assassination. The seven blunders are:

Wealth without work
Pleasure without conscience
Knowledge without character
Commerce without morality
Science without humanity
Worship without sacrifice
Politics without principle

Simple yet profound !!

Life in action 2

All along i thought gerberas bloom just like any other flowers ........not so!

When the bud opens up, this is all there is, this is the capitulum. No petals yet.

After a few weeks, the hairy green bristles transform into petals

Quoting Wikipedia.org: Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, 2-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colors. The capitulum, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. The morphology of the flowers varies depending on their position in the capitulum.

Wow!!!

Phone pics

Gone are the days that a phone is merely a phone. Nowadays, it doubles up as a camera and video recorder as well. Although the phone camera has a lot of limitations, but there are times that it comes in handy when you don't have your camera in tow. Here are some of the pics that i took with my phone camera. Enjoy :)

Summer lovin' ????? Fraid' not

Summer and me don't go together, if i can have a say in the seasons, i would request that SUMMER be skipped. AHahha, fast forward to autumn plss !!

Although it is not officially summer yet, but had a taste of the summer heat today. Scorchingly hot, breath suffocating as well. Without air conditioning, i think i would have melted into a puddle. Thank goodness that the evenings and mornings are still cool at the moment. Really not looking forward to the next few month's weather -_ - '''

Despite how much i don't appreciate the flies hovering over me like i'm a walking fly trap or having a heat stroke during Christmas Day, there has to be something good about summer right?? Everything has a good side and bad side to it right?? (Up till now, i still don't know how to justify what good can a fly do).

After some thoughts, there are some things that i do appreciate:

- Luscious mangoes (i ate 4 today!!!) and irresistable stonefruits (yummmm..... say bye bye to boring apples and oranges).

- Acacia and Jacaranda trees showcasing their purple and flaming red flowers. They are so pretty!!!

- Switching on the air conditioning and drinking cold water without ppl thinking that you are crazy (which i sometimes do even during winter).

- Going for ice creams and cool drinks.

- More sunlight for longer walks in the evening

- No soggy shoes and socks

- Watching the sun set

- Free sauna :p

So my dear readers, what do you like about summer??

Fascinated with the fascinator :)

The feathery headgear is known as a fascinator

Yay!!! I am glad to report that Purple Moon bagged me 30 schmackeroos for coming in at second place. Ohhhh.... it was that close to winning! As fast as the money came, it parted as swiftly. The petrol tank had to be filled ^_^'''

It was shocking to find out that all the jockeys weighed around 50, 51kgs!!!! Man.... i would have knocked them over easily. They must be quite small in size.

The horses are so beautiful/handsome to behold. Smartly groomed and proudly strutting their stuff. Hopefully their owner really treat them well, knowing that horse racing can be a cruel industry.

Efficient, i wonder what you are having for dinner tonight?? Some special hay maybe??

Horsey, jockey, punter...... all ready, set , GO!!!!

Giddy up, horsey!!!

Melbourne cup ..... " the race that stops the nation", how aptly said

May i add something.... it is "the race that cures all toothache" .... "the race that stops the nation from coming in for dental treatment". Well, at least for my clinic :) That's right ..... we only have two patients tomorrow. This is second year in a row that we end up thumb tweedling during Melbourne cup day. Ahahhaha, not that i am complaining about less work :)

Although i know nothing about horse racing, i am looking forward to tomorrow, coz we are gonna have a nice lunch!!!! Hopefully will be able to catch the race on tv as well, coz my practice manager organised a sweepstake for all of us.

Melbourne cup is the only day that i ever risk parting with my money (other than the occasional buying of raffle tics out of pity). Anyway, it is pretty brainless punting, just pay $10 and then blindly pick any three horses from the bag. My horsies are Zipping (hopefully it is zippin' fast), The Fuzz (newspaper says "huge chance") and Purple Moon (described as "major threat"). Out of all the names, only Purple Moon rings a bell. One of my patients who is a huge punter did mentioned that Purple Moon is one of the horses that was predicted to win the grand prize. Hmmmm..... with Damien Oliver as it's jockey...... let's see whether he/she will win me money

Ride with skill mr jockey, run fast horsey, win me some cold hard cash!!!

Life in action

Late awakening. The first bloom of the season. Yay!!! It survived :)

There is only one thing that is constant.....

Today, i had a really good chat with a long lost friend. A girl that i had not seen for almost 11 years.

For those of you don't know, i actually left home to study in another town since i was 13. It was then i started my life of boarding under other's roof. She was my first ever room mate. We got along very well (despite some habit adjustments in the beginning), i look up to her, and she took care of me as if i was her younger sister.

Looking at her MSN name display, she mentioned putting on a lot of weight and was counting down to something. Putting two and two together,i asked her whether she was expecting. True enough, she was going to give birth in february. Wow, this ex roomie of mine is gonna be a first time mommie soon :)

Rarely do i get to see her online. We had exchanged a few conversations and photos before. Looking at the wedding photos that she gave, i see her familiar face. Strange enough, it brought me comfort, knowing that i had found someone that existed in my past.

From talking about her soon to be born baby, the chatting proceeded to more serious topics about each other's life. It brought us back to the good old years as well, reminiscing about the time that we had together.

In the same house (which belonged to one of our school teacher who also plays the role of our guardian), there were 10 other boys and girls. We stayed together for about 2 years. All came from the same home town, all went to the same school. We walked to school together, ate together, played together, boycott meals together, studied together. And... we even did naughty things together ... during book mugging sessions for exams, sneaked out food from the fridge and pantry for supper..... watching stars while sitting on the rooftop (don't ask how i managed to do that).

Those were the memorable times :)

The split came after almost two years. Almost all of us moved out, not wanting to cope anymore with the stingyness of our care giver. Although we went our separate ways, we still saw each other at school, or during holidays at our home town.

Eventually, one by one we graduated, drifted apart.... and in the end i lost contact with most of them (back then emails and mobiles are not the norm). All of us had grown up and led very different lives. In fact, spread around the globe, non of us remained in our home town.

It was her that somehow managed to source out my email address. I am really glad that she found me. Couldn't imagine that i would be speaking to her again after so many years of not contacting each other. This is a second chance, this time round, i will hold on tight to it. Hopefully one day i will be able to chat with her face to face over a cup of tea, and of course.... to see lil' Aaliyah :)

One thing that is constant is CHANGE. People come and go in our lives, some run long marathons with us, whereas some are in our lives for a short period. Long or short.... that is not the main point. We can't guarantee that we would be able to keep in touch with everyone. But if that person is precious to you, make sure that you treasure that relationship.
