The answer to where does Curtin get the money from!!??

Q Q Q Q Q Queueeeeeeeee

The last few days of being "stuck" in Curtin, running around like a headless chook was quite an experience. Not that i haven't been a uni student before. Just that Murdoch when compared to Curtin is very much like a sleepy town. Curtin is massive, and there are humans in every imaginable corner. Eeeks!!!! Looks like city centre during christmas sale.

I am so glad that they did NOT merge the two universities together (MURTIN?? CURDOCH?? Whose brilliant idea was it anyway??!!). Otherwise i can't imagine the mess it would create. Navigating my way through Curtin was already challenging enough. Plenty of calorie- burning walking exercises to do :p

If one is running late for class, tough luck, coz number one you gotta find yourself a spot to park (it's like playing the "where's Wally" game) and number two depending on the distance from the car park to your lecture hall, you'd wish that you are born to sprint (or that the lecturer is late like you are).

The queue at the student administration looked like the Great Wall of China. Thought that I'd do the smarter thing by buying books first, coz there is no way i am going to get through that queue before lecture starts. Well, there is more queuing outside the bookshop. I decided to abandon ship and go to my lectures without my books. Around 3 pm, went back to check the queues, they are still going strong * faint*

Well, i am glad that the ordeal is over. And I guess i will be needing the Transperth bus card after all.

And say with me: MURDOCH is the better uni!!! Ahahahahahahahah :p

Sidetrack: Spending years of Sundays in Curtin, i do wonder where did they get so much money to be constantly constructing new buildings. My suspicions are confirmed now. My dental hygiene course would have cost me a whooping $25,000 a year had i enrolled as an international student. How many international students do they have in Curtin?? And the school fees goes up every year for every student (unlike Curtin and UWA where the school fees stay the same till the day you graduate).

Re- re- re- re - ressurect

Felt like that i hadn't blogged forever, time to re- re- re -resurrect it???!!!!

Hopefully i would still have time to blog :)

Within these few months, i had:

- Been house hunting (if any of you decide to move house, think long, think hard and be ready to dig deep into your pockets coz house rental prices ain't what it used to be)
- Moved in with my siblings (moving house is a torture may i add)
- My parents over for a short period of time (haven't had a family reunion dinner for 8 years)
- Been accepted into uni. (reverting back to student life while others have graduated and looking for jobs)
- Resigned from full time job (goodbye isn't the end!!)
- Went to see Miss Saigon (thanks dr panda and zirafah)
- Went into internet rehab, tv rehab (not by choice, house moving caused the temporary loss of both, have to try very hard to maintain sanity)

Believe it or not, as we are charging towards the end of the second month, i haven't had my new year resolutions mapped out. Well, there isn't much time to sit and reflect, things just change so fast that i feel kinda numb. Sometimes you just don't know what to feel except to move on to the next item on the list.

To survive in this generation is not going to be easy (why am i sounding so old soulish??). Even buying a printer can be such a brain cell killer (gone the days of canon bublejet). There is 3+1, 4+1, with fax, use cartridge, use toner...... blah blah blah. How naive of me to think i can actually step into OfficeWorks and buy a printer within 15 minutes :p

It is not just the complication of things, but also the fact that a few moments of quietness does not come by naturally in this hectic, buzzing world. I like the example that Phillip Yancey used in his book: " Being still is something that modern life conspires against. Ten years ago, I responded to letters within a couple of weeks and kept my correspondents happy. Five years ago i faxed a response a couple of days and they seemed content. Now they want email responses the same day and berate me for not using Instant Messaging or a mobile phone."

Yes, i do have to admit, i am a slave to the internet. For a long long time, I don't think there was actually any moment that i sat down long enough just to pray and listen. When there is spare time, my fingers reaches for the CPU button.

Why are we always on the phone? Why are we always SMSing? Why are we always on the net?? Why are we always out?? Probably these are the questions that run through my parent's head.

Getting towards the end of this entry, i sort of figured what to aim for this year. To regain the quiet moments, to observe more, listen more, pray more. Quietness in the midst of busyness.
Life is short, so why not let it be meaningful?? :)
